HomeView: Apple's Smart Home Hub

HomeView is Apple's answer to the Amazon Echo Show and Google Nest Hub — more than a decade after HomeKit launched, Apple finally has a dedicated display to anchor its smart home.

The device comes in two form factors. The countertop version pairs the display with an aluminum body and a dome speaker base on a stainless-steel hinge, with an adjustable tilt — a clear nod to the iMac G4's floating-screen design. The wall-mounted version uses the same 7-inch display with built-in audio, meant to serve as a fixed home control panel. Schneider Home sells three separate power mounts for it: a USB-C Wall Connector ($59.95) and an AC Wired mount ($79.95) available to order now, plus a PoE Wired mount ($129.95) coming in early 2027.

Apple's pitch is Siri AI: “an entirely new version of Siri powered by the next generation of Apple Intelligence,” per the company. It promises stronger conversational ability, personal context understanding, broad world knowledge, and on-screen awareness. Conversations continue across devices through the Siri app and iCloud, you can customize the voice's expression and speed, and Siri can use your iPhone or iPad's personal context to act across apps — pulling a song from a text thread, setting a reminder from your calendar, finding a recipe from an email. Requests are processed on-device or via Private Cloud Compute. Features that depend on cloud models carry a daily usage cap, with paid expansion coming later. Siri AI ships on HomeView in beta with HomeView software 27.2.

One important caveat: HomeView is not being sold in the EU. Apple says Siri AI is not yet available on iOS in the EU and that it is in discussions with regulators — so Europeans are out of luck for now.

HomePod mini 2

The HomePod mini gets its first real refresh. The S10 chip (from Apple Watch) replaces the aging S5, and Apple is adding five colors: pink, green, blue, white, and midnight. The price stays at $149 — same as the original — with pre-orders open now and store availability on Friday, October 30.

New tricks: Sound Glow, where the top of the speaker lights up in rhythm with your music and shifts to match album artwork, and support for up to four HomePod mini 2 units in a single surround-sound setup (paired with the new Apple TV 4K). It can also serve as the default speaker for a Mac over Wi-Fi 6E.

Note the timing detail: Siri AI does not ship on HomePod mini 2 at launch — it arrives later through a free software update (compatible with HomePod software 27.2).

Apple TV 4K (4th Generation)

The new Apple TV 4K jumps to the A19 chip: 50% faster CPU, double the GPU, and a new dedicated AV1 decoder. Apple says only “built-in Wi-Fi and Thread” for networking — Wi-Fi 7 or the rumored N1 chip didn't get an official mention. The box now has three far-field microphones, so you can call out to Siri hands-free without touching the remote.

The Siri Remote keeps its classic design but adds Find My with Precision Finding, and you can make it play a sound to locate it. The new remote is sold separately and works with the Apple TV HD and every 4K generation.

Pricing stays at $299 (or $49.83/month for six months). Pre-orders are open now, with store availability on Friday, November 13 — note that's the same day as HomeView; October 30 belongs to the HomePod mini 2. Siri AI launches in beta on tvOS 27.2, English first, in the US, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the UK — and it also comes to the 2nd-generation and later Apple TV 4K. Up to four HomePod (2nd gen) or HomePod mini 2 speakers can form a four-channel surround system. As a home hub, the new Apple TV 4K also delivers Apple Intelligence-generated camera activity descriptions and notification summaries.

No homeOS (Yet)

One rumor that didn't pan out: homeOS. All four Apple newsroom announcements still list the same six platforms in the About Apple boilerplate — iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, visionOS, and tvOS. HomeView runs “HomeView software version 27.2” instead. Whatever a unified home platform looks like, Apple isn't naming it yet.

Apple Home Collection: Apple's First Partner Accessories

The “Apple Home Collection” is official: Apple's first lineup of smart home accessories, built with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. The rumor mill had the categories right, and the prices are now real:

  • LG Video Doorbell Wired — $249.95
  • LG Floodlight Cam — $399.95
  • LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In — $299.95 (US/Canada/UK)
  • LG Indoor Cam Plug-In — $199.95
  • LG Smart Deadbolt Lock — $349.95 (UWB auto-unlock, PIN pad, hidden keyhole; US/Canada)
  • LG Smart Thermostat — $199.95
  • LG Temperature Sensor — $39.95 (US/Canada)
  • Schneider Home Smart Thermostat — $199.95 (US/Canada)
  • Schneider Home Room Sensor — $39.95

Installation accessories sell separately (a LG C-Wire Power Adapter at $24.95, Schneider Home Trim Plate at $14.95, and Schneider Home C-Wire Power Adapter at $24.95). The lineup hits apple.com/store, the Apple Store app, and retail stores in December 2026, with some items landing in early 2027. Every accessory offers one-tap iPhone pairing, Thread, end-to-end encryption, and 10 days of iCloud+ event video history. Apple Retail is also offering ADT professional installation in the US starting this fall. Per Apple's Bob Borchers, these four product categories make up the most connected Apple Home lineup in the company's history. (Bonus: the US Apple TV app also gets F1 live streaming.)

FAQ

Is HomeView a replacement for the iPad?

No. Apple is positioning HomeView as a single-purpose smart home display, not a tablet. Apple has not announced an App Store for it — HomeView runs Apple's own smart home software with Siri AI as the primary interface.

When can I buy HomeView?

HomeView costs $299 and goes on sale Friday, November 13, 2026. Pre-orders are open now in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, India, and New Zealand; Singapore starts October 15 at 9:00 SGT. It is not sold in the EU.

Why isn't HomeView sold in the EU?

Because Siri AI is not yet available on iOS in the EU — Apple says it is in discussions with regulators. Until that changes, HomeView has no EU launch.

Does HomePod mini 2 have Siri AI at launch?

No. HomePod mini 2 ships October 30 with the S10 chip and new colors, but Siri AI arrives later through a free software update.

What's the difference between HomeView and an Echo Show?

Apple's pitch is on-device AI and privacy: the A18 chip handles Siri requests locally or via Private Cloud Compute, and HomeKit accessory requirements remain stricter on data handling than Amazon's or Google's. The tradeoff is a closed software experience — Apple has not announced an App Store for HomeView.

Should I buy HomeView or just get a new HomePod mini?

If you want a visual control panel for cameras, thermostats, and doorbells — plus better sound than the mini — HomeView is the pick. If you only need voice control and music in another room, the $149 HomePod mini 2 covers it.

Will my existing HomeKit devices work with HomeView?

Yes — HomeView is built on the same HomeKit/Matter foundation, so existing compatible accessories should carry over. The new Apple Home Collection partner devices (LG, Schneider Electric) expand the lineup from December.
